Passenger advisories have been issued by Dubai Airports to inform travellers that Dubai International (DXB) will be extremely congested during the next two weeks due to the summer break and the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Between June 24 and July 4, about 2.4 million people are projected to transit through DXB, with an average daily flow of 214,000 passengers, according to the operator. As many as 235,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport on July 2, the biggest day. Over the two-day Eid Al Adha weekend on July 8 and 9, the airport expects a similar volume of travellers.
When it comes to getting through the airport this holiday season without a hiccup, Dubai Airports has some straightforward advice for travellers: collaborate with the airlines, the authorities in charge of security, and other commercial and service partners.
Be aware of the newest travel laws for the destination you’re going to and make sure you have all the essential paperwork before you arrive at the airport.
Smart Gates expedite passport control for families travelling with children over the age of 12.
No more than three hours before your flight, if departing from Terminal 1, arrive at the airport. To save time, use online check-in whenever possible.
Customers flying from Terminal 3 can make use of the airline’s simple self-service and early check-in services.
Prior to leaving, make sure all of your documents are in order and that you are prepared for any security checks that may take place.
You can go to and from the airport by taking the Metro in Dubai. During the Eid holiday, the metro’s running hours are extended.
The arrivals forecourt at Terminal 3 can only be used by authorised cars and public transportation, thus guests arriving by car should utilise the airport’s designated parking lots or use the valet service.
Once at the airport, travellers can enjoy DXB’s full range of facilities including restaurants, duty-free shopping and lounges to relax before their flight.
Despite the 45-day shutdown of the northern runway for the restoration project, DXB’s performance in the first five months of 2022 has been exceptional. The first quarter of 2022 saw 13.6 million people pass through the airport, and forecasts for the year show that DXB’s yearly traffic will more than double from 29.1 million passengers in 2021 to 58.7 million this year.
