If you’ve ever dreamed of cruising the timeless Nile in style, then prepare to be blown away. Viking®, the world-renowned leader in luxury ocean and river travel, has just reached a major milestone with the float out of its newest Nile vessel – the 82‑guest Viking Amun. This isn’t just any ship launch; it marks the moment when Viking’s latest state‑of‑the‑art creation first touched water, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey through Egypt’s rich history and breathtaking landscapes.
A Milestone Moment on the Nile
The traditional float out ceremony for Viking Amun took place at the Massara shipyard in Cairo – a proud moment signalling that the ship is now moving into its final phase of construction. Over the next few weeks, she’ll be shifted to a nearby outfitting dock for her final build‑out and interior customisation. Set to sail in September 2025, Viking Amun is destined to join an already impressive fleet of elegant vessels navigating the great Nile. With 41 staterooms designed to host 82 lucky guests, this new addition embodies Viking’s famed Scandinavian style, featuring a distinctive square bow and an inviting indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace.
Torstein Hagen, Viking’s Chairman and CEO, couldn’t be more excited:
“We are very proud of our growing fleet in Egypt, which we consider to be by far the most elegant vessels on the Nile. Egypt is one of the world’s most captivating destinations, and we look forward to introducing even more curious travellers to this extraordinary region in the coming years.”
Viking’s Egypt fleet continues to expand with vessels such as the Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek, Viking Hathor, Viking Ra, and MS Antares. And here’s more great news – Viking plans to welcome five additional ships in Egypt over the next two years, bringing the total to 12 by 2027.
