Royal Caribbean International’s highly anticipated new ship, Star of the Seas, has reached a significant construction milestone, floating for the first time at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. This momentous event marks a major step towards the ship’s debut in August 2025, less than a year away.
A Grand Celebration
On October 3, 2024, Royal Caribbean and thousands of workers celebrated as Star of the Seas floated one step closer to its debut. The ceremony, a maritime tradition, included a shot from a cannon and filling the dry dock with 92 million gallons of water, an overnight process that took nearly nine hours. The ship floated out of the dock and into the outfitting pier, where it will be continued to take shape inside and out.
The Next Best Vacation
Star of the Seas is set to bring the best of every vacation to life, combining new twists and acclaimed experiences introduced by its sister ship, Icon of the Seas. The ship will feature eight neighbourhoods, each a destination, offering something for every type of family and vacationer. Highlights include:
- Thrills: Six of the fastest and tallest waterslides.
- Dining and Drinking: Over 40 options to dine and drink.
- Surfside Neighbourhood: Designed specifically for young families.
Island Hopping Adventures
Guests can look forward to seven-night island-hopping adventures to idyllic destinations, including Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. This new ship promises to double the world’s best vacation count, bringing unparalleled experiences to the greater Orlando area.
Looking Ahead
As Star of the Seas enters the final stages of construction, excitement continues to build for its debut at Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, in August 2025. This milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the thousands of workers involved in its construction over the past 19 months.
