Discovery Princess, the newest jewel in the Princess Cruises fleet, has just wrapped up a stunning five-day getaway through Southeast Asia, paving the way for her much-anticipated maiden Australian season set to begin next month. From 6 December until 7 April, Discovery Princess will call Sydney home, marking 50 years since Pacific Princess – affectionately remembered as the Love Boat – first sailed into the city.
Princess Cruises’ Vice President of APAC, Matt Rutherford, says Discovery brings a truly world-class style of cruising to Aussie shores: “She’s ideally suited for the Australian market – spacious, stylish and full of variety.” Guests can expect unforgettable holidays onboard, from the luxurious Sky Suites with the largest balconies at sea, to an array of top-notch dining venues and relaxed poolside spaces. Discovery Princess offers the perfect blend of premium comfort and warm hospitality.
In her inaugural season, Discovery Princess will take Australian travellers on 12 unique cruises, including two magical journeys to Fiji and five spectacular voyages to New Zealand. After her Aussie adventure, the ship will head back to the Northern Hemisphere by way of French Polynesia and Hawaii, ensuring each holiday is filled with exceptional destinations and memorable experiences.
Matt Rutherford is excited for the “season-long celebration” as Discovery commences her Sydney program. “We’ll be welcoming our partners, travel agents and loyal guests onboard throughout the season, and we can’t wait for them to experience everything this remarkable ship has to offer.” The ship’s recent Asia program included her first-ever visit to Singapore before embarking on a five-day Southeast Asia jaunt with stops in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, and Penang.
Looking ahead, Princess Cruises is deepening its focus on the Asia-Pacific region with one-third of its global fleet scheduled to cruise from Australia in 2026-27, including Royal Princess, Grand Princess, and Crown Princess.
