A Human-Centric Haven of Comfort, Culture, and Culinary Delights Before You Fly
Cathay Pacific has proudly reopened the doors to its redesigned flagship lounge at Beijing Capital International Airport, marking a new chapter in the airline’s commitment to elevated, human-centric travel experiences.
As part of Cathay Pacific’s extensive lounge enhancement plan, which also saw the reopening of The Bridge in Hong Kong earlier this year, this Beijing lounge is designed to reflect the airline’s unique position — rooted in Hong Kong, proudly part of China, and connecting the world.
A Landmark Investment in the Mainland
The Beijing lounge launch coincides with Cathay Pacific’s robust presence in the Chinese Mainland, where it currently operates over 300 weekly return flights to 23 destinations, including seven daily return services between Hong Kong and Beijing this summer.
Ronald Lam, Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer, shared:
“Having one of our best lounges located at the capital’s airport is especially important to us. This new lounge represents our commitment to offering customers greater choice and convenience — both in the air and on the ground — when they travel with Cathay Pacific.”
The Lounge Experience: Designed with Guests in Mind
Every element of the redesigned lounge has been carefully curated to create a refined, residential atmosphere where guests feel both at ease and inspired.
✨ Reception & Service
The lounge introduces a warm podium-style welcome format, creating a friendlier and more intuitive guest flow. For the first time outside Hong Kong, customers will also meet Cathay Pacific’s Lounge Ambassadors, dedicated to providing personalised service.
🛋️ Main Lounge & Privacy
Designer furnishings, intimate seating zones, and carefully curated lighting together create the ambiance of a sophisticated private residence, with enhanced privacy options for travelers who seek discretion.
🍜 Dining Highlights
The Beijing lounge elevates dining with three distinct experiences:
- The Noodle Bar: Serving Cathay Pacific’s signature wonton and dan dan noodles, plus exclusive Beijing-inspired dishes like hearty bean paste noodles.
- The Food Hall: An open-ceiling space offering diverse self-serve options, from salads to freshly baked pastries.
- The Teahouse (a first outside Hong Kong): A tranquil retreat serving premium Chinese teas brewed to order by expert tea specialists, featuring rare varieties sourced across China.
🌿 Relaxation Spaces
- The Terrace: A light-filled veranda where guests can unwind, featuring multi-functional Solo Chairs for work or relaxation.
- Artwork Collection: Curated in collaboration with artists behind Cathay Pacific’s Gallery in the Skies, the collection showcases contemporary Chinese calligraphy and whimsical art, weaving culture into the travel journey.
Looking Ahead: Lounges Around the World
The Beijing lounge reopening is a milestone within Cathay Pacific’s ongoing lounge program, which includes:
- The recent reopening of The Bridge in Hong Kong.
- The conversion of The Deck into an interim First Class lounge during renovations.
- A complete refresh of The Wing, First and The Wing, Business by 2026.
- Plans for new flagship lounges in Hong Kong and New York in the coming years.
This investment is part of the Cathay Group’s HK$100 billion+ commitment to aircraft, cabin products, lounges, and digital innovation to elevate the entire journey.
A Gateway Experience that Feels Like Home
Erica Peng, Cathay Pacific’s Director of Customer Travel, described the design philosophy best:
“Our redesigned Beijing lounge seeks to mirror the warmth and familiarity of our lounges in Hong Kong and around the world. From dining offerings steeped in Beijing flavours to thoughtfully designed spaces for rest and refreshment, it’s a place to truly feel at home before your journey begins.”
