Australia’s much-anticipated summer cruise season has officially launched, ushering in a wave of excitement and opportunity for travellers and the local economy alike. Leading the charge is Carnival Corporation, confirming that 17 ships from across its iconic brands—including Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises—will be gracing Australian waters this summer.
The festivities kicked off with the grand return of Crown Princess to Sydney on 26 September 2025 after a remarkable 113-night world voyage. The season will conclude on 15 April 2026 as Island Princess sets sail from Brisbane, wrapping up a series of unforgettable journeys.
Economic Impact & Cruise Volume
Carnival Corporation estimates the fleet’s presence will inject around $4 billion into the Australian economy through destination tourism and collaborations with local suppliers. Across its seven distinctive cruise lines—Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Cunard, Seabourn, P&O Cruises (UK), and Costa—a staggering 448 port calls are scheduled, underscoring the region’s significance in global cruising.
Carnival Cruise Line’s homeported vessels, such as Carnival Adventure, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Encounter, and Carnival Luminosa, are set to achieve the highest number of turnarounds, clocking in 140 across the season. With eight ships stationed in Sydney and Brisbane and an additional nine calling in as part of world itineraries, nearly 600,000 passengers are projected to sail Australia’s vibrant coastlines, the South Pacific, and New Zealand.
Debut of Discovery Princess & More Highlights
This summer marks the much-anticipated Australian debut of Discovery Princess in December, adding to the allure with its fresh features and luxury offerings. Not to be outdone, extended luxury voyages aboard Holland America’s Noordam and Seabourn Quest also promise to elevate the season’s experiences.
Carnival Corporation is catering to every traveller’s desires—offering everything from quick, affordable getaways to ultra-luxury expeditions. “The demand for domestic cruises is high because Australians understand they offer great value for money while being a fun, easy way to enjoy precious time with family and friends this summer,” said Peter Little, Carnival Corporation Country Manager.
Princess Cruises Returns to Western Australia
Another standout announcement: Princess Cruises is returning to Western Australia in 2027, homeporting Sapphire Princess in Fremantle for the summer. This marks the line’s first WA deployment in eight years—making Princess Cruises the only major premium cruise brand to homeport from the state, and reaffirming its commitment to providing diverse itineraries for Australian travellers.
A Season for Every Traveller
From exploring Australia’s hidden gems and iconic cities to setting sail for the South Pacific or the rugged beauty of New Zealand, this summer’s cruise season promises unforgettable voyages for every taste and budget. With so many choices on offer, now is the perfect time to set your sights on the horizon and experience the best in cruise travel with Carnival and Princess Cruises.
