This year, Cunard will reintroduce an exclusive series of Le Gavroche residencies at sea, with two Michelin-starred chefs, Michel Roux, bringing his famed London restaurant to guests aboard Queen Anne and Queen Mary 2.
The renowned chef will close the famed Mayfair venue later this month to manage four Le Gavroche residencies on four spectacular Fjords cruises in 2024.
The exclusive series will be delivered in partnership with the Norwegian Seafood Council and will begin on 2 June with Le Gavroche at The Verandah onboard Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 for the voyage to Hardangerfjord.
The five-night residency will be an additional charge to guests and will cater to 60 diners every evening, displaying a magnificent array of Michel’s signature seafood specialities and elevated culinary classics.
A five-course tasting menu prepared with the finest ingredients will transport diners to a world where the aromas of the sea are embraced.
On 4 August, on her roundtrip Fjords cruise from Hamburg, Michel will hold a second residence aboard the Queen Mary 2.
In the same month, on 11 August, Cunard’s newest ship, the Queen Anne, will set sail for Stavanger, Norway, for another intimate five-night takeover at Sir Samuels with Le Gavroche. Fifty guests can enjoy this exclusive dinner experience every night.
On 1 September, as the Queen Anne sets sail for Haugesund, the custodian of Le Gavroche will have his fourth Norwegian residence, bringing his total number of takeovers to four.
Guests on these voyages will also have the opportunity to hear Michel, who has an impressive 40-year career in hospitality under his belt, share anecdotes as an Insight Speaker at the Royal Court Theatre.
This comes after Michel was announced in August to create a special gala menu for Queen Anne’s Queens Grill and Princess Grill and a new Golden Lion menu, including refined pub favourites on Cunard’s newest ship.
Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, said: “We are incredibly honoured to exclusively host Le Gavroche at sea and continue our exciting partnership with Michel Roux. Just as Michel sets the bar for fine dining, we at Cunard set the bar for luxury ocean travel, and his innovative approach to celebrating traditional Norwegian cuisine perfectly aligns with our dedication to offering guests unforgettable and culturally rich experiences.”
Michel Roux added: “It is an absolute privilege to bring Le Gavroche to Cunard’s Queens, reuniting with their hugely talented and passionate culinary development chefs as we strive to create menus inspired by the treasures of Norwegian cuisine. The culinary heritage of Norway is a tapestry of flavours, and together with Cunard, I look forward to weaving these elements into an extraordinary dining experience at Sir Samuel’s and The Verandah. My ongoing partnership with the Norwegian Seafood Council allows us to ensure every dish tells a story of the nation’s natural beauty.”
