Over the Christmas-New Year holiday season, Rex announced the addition of a second daily Melbourne-Hobart service.
The additional flights will fly between 18 December and 21 January to meet the increased demand from holidaymakers looking to visit the Apple Isle.
Rex inaugurated the Melbourne-Hobart service last month, and bookings in both ways have surpassed expectations since the inaugural flight on 14 August.
The noon flight from Melbourne will be augmented by a 6.15 p.m. departure for Hobart, with return services operating at 2.05 p.m. and 8.20 p.m. on select days.
Flights can now be purchased via Rex.com.au, with one-way tickets starting at $79.
“I would urge people to book as soon as possible because I have no doubt these additional flights will sell out quickly,” said Rex Deputy Chairman, the Hon John Sharp AM.
“Passenger demand has been phenomenal, and forward bookings have gone through the roof,” added Sharp.
Norris Carter, Chief Executive Officer of Hobart Airport, expressed his delight at the success of Rex’s new services. “Only a few weeks in, and already Rex is announcing additional services,” said Carter.
“It’s fantastic to see these additional flights and, more importantly, more competition at Hobart Airport, which benefits passengers.” “These additional services over the summer holiday season are a good sign for the future of Rex in Hobart,” said Carter.
